Winding Roads

Welcome to Journey Counselling

"Life, at its best, is a flowing, changing process in which nothing is fixed".

Carl Rogers

Seeking help is the first important step towards positive change.

Making  a decision to commence counselling involves some important  considerations, such as, what you would like to get out of therapy and  who you would like to work with.

My role as a counsellor is to provide you with an opportunity to explore any personal difficulties you may be having in a non-judgmental, supportive and confidential environment.

We all experience difficult moments in our lives, when this happens it can be hard to stay positive with everyday life.  Through exploration you can make sense of your thoughts and feelings so that you can then make choices about what to do to bring about changes in your life.

How Counselling can benefit You

I believe everyone can benefit from counselling as each one of us experiences challenges at one point or another. Having the opportunity to talk things through can make a tremendous difference to your everyday sense of well-being and health

As a person-centred counsellor working from a humanistic model I strongly believe that you hold your own answers, even if they feel out of reach at the moment. Your counselling sessions will be yours; a safe place for you to explore your feelings, your fears and parts of you that you may have hidden.  For this reason the counselling journey can sometimes be a little uncomfortable; I will be with you during those times offering a non-judgmental, confidential space.

A non-directive approach which believes in your ability to make the right choices and your potential to find the best solutions and make the appropriate changes needed in your life.

I  have experience of working with people who struggle with low self-esteem and confidence  issues; anxiety; stress; depression; anger-related issues; relationship  difficulties; loss; bereavement; cultural conflicts; life-transition struggles and the effects of trauma.

About Me

I’m Jo, a Qualified Counsellor and a registered individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. (BACP)

Alongside my private practice, I work with a registered charity that offers counselling to Adults and Young People in and around Windsor, Maidenhead and Slough.

I’ve over 20 years’ experience within the health and wellbeing field. My career includes working with a diverse range of people in the social care sector, private and voluntary organisations.

My understanding of cultural diversity has been enriched through travelling the world and living in several countries.  Through my own personal journey, I’ve re-learned the art of self-care which means I can share with others who wish to lead a happier, healthier life

This breadth of experience gives me additional knowledge and understanding which I can use to help you in counselling sessions

I work within the BACP Ethical Framework.

Embracing counselling & Psychotherapy has helped enable positive change in my life.
Throughout my working life, my focus has been on compassion and the importance of listening to, and understanding each other.

I have previously worked in Social care as a Residential social worker and as an Advocate.

For the last decade I have worked as Cabin crew and a Cabin Manager in the Airline industry, so I understand the demands of a stressful job.

In these roles I have seen people experience Isolation, Anxiety, Stress, Financial Pressures, Sleep Disorders, Fatigue, Mood Swings and Occupational Injury to name a few.

I like to view counselling as a beginning, a beginning to discovering you, what you want and how you want to be. It may not be an easy road to go down but the reward can be life changing.
